Festival

One of the most important projects carried out by the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra over the years has been the "Polish Music in Żuławy" Festival (from 2018 "Polish Music in Warmia and Żuławy"). As part of the Festival, the Orchestra, together with the invited guests, presented the most beautiful pieces of Polish chamber music in the Gothic churches of the region during the summer season. The concerts took place in such places as Elbląg, Pasłęk, Krzyżanów, Stegna and Orneta. During the seven editions of the ECO Festival, our musicians were accompanied, among others, by Katarzyna Moś, the band VOŁOSI and Marcin Wyrostek & Coloriage and Janusz Wawrowski. The conductor was maestro Marek Moś. So far all the festival concerts have been attended by the audience of nineteen thousand people.

In 2021, the concept of the Festival was changed. The name itself was also changed - to "Elblag Music Festival". As usual the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra performed in the Gothic churches of Warmia and Żuławy, but this time with a different repertoire - songs about love. Katarzyna Żak performed in a double role, as a vocalist and the concert presenter. The chamber musicians were accompanied by Hadrian Tabęcki’s ensemble. The repertoire included works by such masters of the word as Agnieszka Osiecka, Wojciech Młynarski or Jeremi Przybora.

In 2022 the formula of the Festival has been changed and as a result the "Elblag Music Festival" was expanded to include the "Elblag Music Masterclass". Music lovers will still be able to admire the performance of the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra and invited guests in historic gothic interiors, but they will also have the opportunity to watch talented musicians of the younger generation. On the one hand, thanks to the open recitals held at the Old Town Hall. On the other hand, during the final concert which will be held at the "Galeria EL" Center for Contemporary Art, with the participation of the Elbląg Cultural Centre and the winners of the "Young Virtuoso" competition. As part of the "Elbląg Music Masterclass", apart from concerts and recitals, there will be workshops for young musicians led by eminent professors from Poland and abroad.
