Marek Czech - Viola
Marek Czech was born in 1977 in Bialystok, where he began his adventure with music under the direction of Henryk Najda. He continues his education in 1996-2001 at Warsaw Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music (now The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music) in the class of Prof. Marek Marczyk.
From 2000 to 2018 he was a member of The Royal String Quartet, with which he commenced regular performances in Poland and abroad. An invitation to the prestigious BBC New Generation Artists program (2004-2006), promoting the most talented young musicians from the entire world, was a turning point in the career of the quartet. The team gained the reputation of one of the most interesting and dynamically developed string quartets of the younger generation in the world. Since autumn 2021 he joined Prima Vista String Quartet with whom he has a lively concert and phonographic activity. He is also a member of I Solisti di Varsavia and cooperate with many other orchestras and ensembles.
He has participated in prestigious festivals in Poland and abroad, working with some of the most renowned artists, such as: Angela Hewitt, Thomas Allen, Ann Murray, Mark Padmore, Stephen Kovacevich, Antoine Tamestit, Christian Poltéra, Laurence Power, Freddy Kempf, Cédric Tiberghien, Fröst Martin, Tzimon Barto, Llyr Williams, Ingolf Wunder, Klaudiusz Baran, Andrzej Bauer, Janusz Olejniczak.
He has made numerous appearances in in Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, National Gallery of Art in Washington, Le Grand Theatre in Bordeaux, Martinu Hall in Prague, Palais de Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Vienna and Berlin Konzerthaus. Polish Radio 2, BBC 3, MEZZO television and other European station broadcast concerts of the quartet.
Marek Czech is an assistant professor of viola and chamber music at Warsaw Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. As of 2019, he is a viola teacher at the State Music School Complex No. 1 in Warsaw.
